Ed Sheeran may have been in town over the weekend but the Galway Girls stole the show. Long road to AbbeyFeale Limerick for the third year of the U12 national Girls interleague competition. Galway won in the inaugural year 2016 and reached the final in 2017 but were beaten on penalities.

The 2018 Galway U12 Girls with management team Erin Lynch, Shane Fitzgerald and Alan McNevin. needed to top the group consisting of Clare, Limerick Desmond, Limerick county and NTSFL(North Tipperary) to qualify.

NTSFL 0 Galway 1 – Great start with Emily Fitzgerald on the score sheet

Galway 1 Limerick County 0 – Daria Breenan bagging the Galway goal and GK Leah O’Conner making a brialliant save to seal the victory

Clare 1 Galway 1 , the toughest game so far with Emily Fitgerald again the scorer playing off a magificent long ball by GK Abby Kavenaugh.

A win of a draw would see Galway top the group and seal a place in the National semi finals June 23rd in UL.

A tired but resilent squad saw it through with a draw against Limerick Desmond 0-0 at full time.

Salthill Devon are very proud of U12 Devonettes who were part of the Galway squad - Kaelah Tobin, Aoife Nash, Elle Browne, Emily Fitzgerald, Daria Brennan, Maria Costello

Well done to all
