Martin Taylor and Donnacha Martyn’s U15 Division 2 team recorded an emphatic 6-2 win over West Coast Utd which means they require just 1 point from their remaining fixture to guarantee them the league title. Despite early jitters which saw the Devon boys trail early on in the game they managed to recover and the score was tied at 2-2 at half-time. Following a few positional changes by the astute management duo the home side dominated the second half in terms of possession and goals. Peter Clement (2), Jay Martyn, Kian Higgins, Aaron McIntyre and Cian O Halloran were the scorers.

John Nolan and Tom Finneran’s U12s qualified for the semi-final of the Connacht Shield as they overcame a fancied Boyle Celtic in the quarter-final in Drom last Saturday. Despite missing a few regulars including goalkeeper, Ben Nolan, the Seagulls put in a commanding 2nd half performance to run out convincing 4-1 winners in the end. Padraig Faherty, Darnell McKinney, Ben McDonald and Conor Diskin were the scorers while star striker Sam Finneran deputised admirably in goal for the absent Nolan.

Mike Murphy’s U12 Division 1 team ensured the long journey home from Letterfrack was a pleasant one as they overcame their hosts, West Coast Utd, 2-1 after a closely fought encounter. Daniel O Gorman socred the opener while Ben Murphy bagged the winner in a fantastic all round team performance which moved them into the top half of the table.

Matthew Sutton’s Youth Premier team were also away to West Coast Utd and performed excellently to record a 5-0 win which keeps them in contention at the top of the table. Byron Lyon was the star performer with 4 goals, which included a spectacular overhead kick, while Callum Neill scored the other to put the gloss on a super team performance.

Shane Fitzgerald’s U12 Girls Premier team continued their unbeaten run in the league as they overcame a gallant Oughterard in a high scoring win. Ellie Browne and Emily Fitzgerald top scored while Kaelah Tobin provided the majority of the assists. Elsewhere the U14 Division 1 team lost out to Tuam Celtic 3-0 while the Junior Premier team came unstruck away to Corrib Celtic in a 7 goal thriller.
