Salthill Devon U16s reached the quarter final of the SFAI National Cup after a convincing win against Abbeyleix FC from Laois in Drom last Sunday. 2nd half Goals from Mattthew Murray, Sean Conroy and Ethan Fiorentini secured the win for Mark Brady and Bogdan Matei’s talented squad in a super all round team performance. They await the draw with confidence and expectation while they return to league action this Sunday as they face a difficult game away to Athenry.

GFA U12 Division 2: Salthill Devon 1-1 Loughrea

The other big game of the weekend involved Conor Byrne and Bogdan Matei’s U12 Division 2 team as they welcomed fellow title contenders, Loughrea, to Drom last Saturday. Salthill began brightly and led 1-0 at halt-time, courtesy of a wonderful solo effort from James Morahan. The Seagulls were on top for the majority of the game, however, midway through the second half a mix up in their defence let the visitors in for a half chance and their opportunist striker duly obliged with a well taken effort from distance. There was little to separate the sides thereafter only for the Loughrea goalkeeper to ensure the sides finished level following a couple of smart saves. The result means both teams remain unbeaten while one would expect the return fixture in the coming months would go a long way to deciding the eventual winners.

GFA U12 Round Up

It was a great weekend all round for the U12s as John Nolan’s Premier League team returned to winning ways following a 5-3 win over Tuam Celtic. Mike Murphy’s Division 1 team defeated a fancied Corrib Celtic 2-1 in Annaghdown while Brian O Donnell’s Division 5 team continued their good form by defeating neighbours, Knocknacarra, 3-1 in Cappagh Park.

GFA U14 Premier League: Salthill Devon 1-1 Mervue Utd

Donnacha Martyn’s U14 Premier League team recorded a 1-1 draw against the reigning champions in an entertaining game played under lights in Drom on Wednesday.  There was very little between the two sides in the first half with Conal Dorrans producing a superb save to keep the Seagulls in the game. The midfield trio Leo Byrne, Matthew Thompson and Darren Darcy battled hard against a very strong Mervue Utd midfield. The full backs , Cian O'Halloran and Daniel Hoare, along with the help of wingers, Aaron McIntyre and Evan O'Reilly, kept the visitors at bay. The game opened up a bit more in the second half with Mervue scoring first despite a solid display from our centre back paring of Evan Fox and Ryan Kavanagh. Jay Martyn worked tirelessly up front on his and was the provider of the cross from a corner which lead to captain Ryan Kavanagh's headed equaliser to give the hosts a deserved equaliser.

GFA U14 Division 1: Salthill Devon 2-2 Tuam Celtic

Enda Cullen, James Whelan and Shane O Grady’s U14 Division 1 team extended their recent unbeaten run as they drew 2-2 with Tuam Celtic on Saturday.

GFA Girls U16 League: Salthill Devon 9-1 Kiltullagh

It was another flawless weekend for the girls as Pat Lawess’s U16s remain firmly on course for the title following a comfortable win over a gallant Kiltullagh at Drom. Saoirse Burke and Kate Thompson were prominent in most if not all of the goals.

GFA Girls U12 Division 1: Salthill Devon 3-1 Bearna Na Forbeacha Aonthaithe
