U12 Boys Connacht Shield

Coaches Conor Byrne and Bogdan Matei took their young charges to Cavan to play UCL Harps in the U12 Connacht Shield. UCL stands for Ulster Connacht Leinster as UCL hail from an area touching on all three borders and have a huge catchment area Thomas D'Arcy opened the scoring 8 mins into first half. With Tom Mulholland rifling a scorching left footer for the second shortly after James Coyle added a superb  solo effort  to claim SD's third before half time.

Second half UCL put SD under some pressure but Keeper Adam Morris made a succession of fine saves to maintain the 3.0 scoreline Kian O Connell made it 4 after coming on as sub with a very cool finish under pressure from two defenders and the UCL keeper. The back line of Stephen Ryan, Tommy Lillis and Sean Costello dealt with everything UCL threw at them, unfortunately whilst Captain Fantastic Tommy Lillis was off the pitch getting treatment for an injury UCL got one back. However once back on the pitch Tommy drove forward and secured SD's fifth

The midfield trio of David Kilraine , James Morahan and Thomas Burke were constantly a threat to UCL and worked tirelessly to repeatedly set up chances for their front men Thomas D'Arcy got the sixth after dribbling past two defenders and rounding the keeper to cap an excellent performance and send SD's U11's into next round of the U12  Connacht Shield   A huge thanks to the travelling support who were treated to some excellent football. Also to UCL Harps for their hospitality after the game. And to the referee "Ray" who officiated with a huge smile on his face for the entire duration.
