Under a full picturesque orange moon setting in Drom the Devon girls looked to progress to the 3rd Round of the Irish cup.

The first 20 mins of the game presented two teams evenly matched and in truth Ria McPhilibin was the goalkeeper called upon more making some fine saves. 25 mins in with some sustained pressure Midfielder (Capt) Shauna Butler scored an opportunist goal as the Castlebar Town defence lost concentration.

This was quickly followed a goal from Alex Shepard ala Gary Linker deadly in the box. HT saw the Devonettes 2-0 but a lot still to do. The 3rd goal really sealed the game and it was a cracker from 20 yards out by Alana McNeil. Castlebar were broken and whilst Ria was still called to make some spectacular saves the wind was with Salthill.

Goals then started to flow with Alex Shepard bagging a second, Ivana Lally her first deservingly so and a wonder goal from Alisha Meehan. The Backline of Anna Costello, Kate Connaughton, Ailish Mcdonnell and Aoibhin Mcdonnell played exceptional well.

Camille Keane made a welcome return  and was outstanding in midfield along with tireless Meadhbh Dirrane who kept their best player in check .

Credit to the hardworking Saoirse Burke who assisted in 4 of the goals dominating the left wing with Alana McNeil. It was also great to see our U14 players continue the pressure with Emma Post hitting the crossbar, Kate Thompson making the Keeper save two great shots and Aine Deane coming on to play solidly in defence.

A good finish to the end of a successful weekend all around which saw the Salthill Girls finished victors 6-0.
